Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine lukewarm milk and active dry yeast; let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt. Add the yeast mixture along with softened butter, egg, and vanilla extract; mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours until doubled in size.
  5. Meanwhile, prepare the cheesecake filling by beating softened cream cheese with sugar, vanilla extract, flour, and sour cream until smooth.
  6. Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle and spread softened butter over it.
  7. Spoon the cheesecake filling evenly over the buttered dough, then sprinkle cinnamon-sugar mixture on top.
  8. Roll tightly into a log and cut into 12 equal rolls; place in a greased baking dish.
  9. Let rolls rise again for 30-45 minutes while preheating the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown; cool before drizzling with cream cheese icing.
