Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, garlic powder, onion powder (if using), salt, and cayenne pepper (if using).
  3. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Gently fold in the shredded cheddar cheese.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together buttermilk and egg until smooth.
