  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (for topping)
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans (for topping)
  • 1 1/2 cups very hot water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
  3. In another bowl, mix pumpkin puree, milk, melted butter (or oil), and vanilla.
  4. Stir wet ingredients into dry until well combined.
  5. Pour batter into an 8-inch casserole dish.
  6. In a separate bowl, mix granulated sugar, brown sugar, and chopped pecans; sprinkle over batter without stirring.
  7. Carefully pour very hot water over the top.
  8. Bake for about 40 minutes or until set in the middle.
  9. Cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.
