  • 2 sweet onions
  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • 1 ½ tbsp grainy mustard
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • 2 tsp kosher salt (divided)
  • ½ tsp pepper (divided)
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp dried thyme
  • ¼ tsp paprika
  • ¼ tsp poultry seasoning
  • 2 tbsp olive oil (divided)
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 2 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • ½ tsp Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Trim silver skin from the beef tenderloin and season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, paprika, and poultry seasoning.
  2. Sauté onions in olive oil and butter over medium heat until caramelized (about 45 minutes).
  3. Preheat oven to 400°F. Whisk together maple syrup, mustard, minced garlic, balsamic vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
  4. Sear the tenderloins in a hot skillet until golden brown on all sides.
  5. Deglaze skillet with beef broth and add sauce mixture; let simmer briefly.
  6. Pour sauce over tenderloins and roast until internal temperature reaches 145°F (15-20 minutes).
