This easy-to-follow recipe is perfect for beginners and seasoned cooks alike, making it an ideal treat for family gatherings or as a thoughtful gift.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (454 g) unsalted butter
  • 2 cups (400 g) granulated sugar
  • 2 cups (336 g) semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup (109 g) finely chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Prepare your baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper.
  2. In a heavy-bottom saucepan over medium heat, combine butter and sugar. Stir continuously until the mixture reaches 285°F (135°C) on a candy thermometer, approximately 35-45 minutes.
  3. Pour the cooked mixture onto the prepared baking sheet and let it sit for 1-2 minutes before sprinkling chocolate chips evenly on top. Allow them to soften before spreading into an even layer.
  4. Sprinkle chopped pecans over the melted chocolate and gently press them in.
  5. Let the toffee set at room temperature for about an hour until completely firm.
  6. Once set, break into pieces and store in an airtight container.
