  • 10 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons vanilla extract
  • Green gel food coloring

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large bowl, whisk together vegetable oil, sour cream, heavy cream, and eggs until smooth. Add chocolate cake mix, cocoa powder, and optional espresso powder; mix until combined.
  2. Line muffin tins with cupcake liners and fill each about two-thirds full with batter. Bake for approximately 15 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool completely.
  3. For the frosting: Beat cold butter until creamy, gradually adding powdered sugar on low speed. Mix in vanilla extract and heavy cream, beating until fluffy. Add green gel food coloring to reach your desired shade.
  4. Frost cooled cupcakes using a piping bag fitted with a star tip to create tree shapes. Decorate with star sprinkles and holiday-themed toppings.
