Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup lukewarm milk
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 4 ½5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1½ teaspoons salt
  • ½ cup mashed banana
  • Filling: 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, ½ cup packed brown sugar, 1 tablespoon cinnamon, 2 large bananas (sliced)
  • Topping: ¼ cup heavy cream, 4 ounces cream cheese, 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, 1½ cups powdered sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Warm the milk to lukewarm temperature. In a large bowl, combine warm milk with melted butter and granulated sugar. Add yeast and let it sit for about five minutes until bubbly.
  2. Mix in salt and mashed banana. Gradually incorporate flour until a soft dough forms. Knead on a floured surface until smooth and elastic.
  3. Place dough in a greased bowl covered with plastic wrap; let rise for about an hour until doubled in size.
  4. Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle and spread softened butter over it. Sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon evenly before adding sliced bananas.
  5. Roll tightly into a log shape and slice into one-inch pieces. Place slices in a greased baking dish close together; cover and allow to rise for another half hour.
  6. Pour warmed heavy cream over the rolls before baking at 350°F (175°C) until golden brown (about 25–30 minutes).
  7. For frosting, beat softened cream cheese with butter until smooth; add powdered sugar and vanilla extract to taste. Frost warm rolls before serving.
